Riverfront Park Park Identity and Signage System
As Lead Graphic Designer, I worked alongside our landscape designers at DHM Design to create the interpretive signage and wayfinding system for the Crystal River Restoration and Riverfront Trail. That process began with creating an identity system that represented the park in a way that was connected to the landscape and the visitors that would eventually engage with the signage. While the river restoration was led by our landscape architects and project partners, my role was to translate their ecological and community goals into a cohesive visual system that connects people to the site.
The signage program was designed to turn the trail into an interactive outdoor classroom, highlighting topics such as riparian plant communities, geomorphology, wildlife habitat, and watershed health. I developed a consistent family of interpretive panels, icon signs, and a custom entry kiosk that guide visitors, mark river access points, and spark curiosity through clear, accessible storytelling.
This project was a true collaboration—combining landscape design, ecological expertise, and visual communication—to help the Carbondale community and visitors better understand the function, history, and future of the Crystal River.
